Academic policies and procedures are regulated by the Ministry of Manpower & Colleges of Technology to regulate & facilitate the students’ academic life; these rules are designed to meet specific quality standards. The Ministry of Manpower produces a student guidebook that contains the Academic Rules for governing students. It supersedes all previously published versions of these rules.

By enrolling at Nizwa College of Technology, the students should be aware of these rules and all students hereby agree to be governed by the following rules & policies. Nizwa College of Technology reserves the right to change these rules from time to time with or without notice.
These standards provide the technical colleges students who wish to change their specializations which could be achieved within the framework of equal opportunities and transparency. Any student may request a change of specialization according to the following criteria and procedures:
The course is an academic subject taught during one semester, and the student grades are determined in the course on the basis of the on-going achievements in the theoretical and practical classroom, the periodical tests, researches, the required projects along with the end of the semester exam. The final exam is considered to be comprehensive subject, and is to be hold once at the end of each semester, and determines in the light of the ingredients determined by the committee of quality control and might be in written , practical, or both forms according to the nature of the scheduled and evaluation system.
Article (53): The student is allowed to retake the course to obtain a better degree in the case of studying the course for the first time with the success of the degree (C) and below, with a maximum of three courses at every level. And in this case, the old grade is replaced with the new one whether lower or higher than the old grade.
The student is Foreshadowed and his guardian is informed in writing, if his absence rate is 10% of the total specified hours per semester, and follow the same procedure if his absence rate is 20%, . In both cases the student must be cautioned and his guardian must be informed that he (the student) is going to be debarred sitting for the final exam if his absence reached 30%.
The student is subjected to the academic observation system if his average grades points (Semester GPA) is less than the required average of (2) in any semester, and he is allowed to register (12) credit hours in any semester and (6) credit hours supported in the summer semester.
The student is subjected to the academic observation system if he did not achieve the condition of the first academic observation condition which is:
Obtain a cumulative average of 2.0 or more, and he is allowed to register (12) credit hours in any semester and (6) credit hours in the summer semester.
The student is subjected to the academic observation system if he did not achieve the condition of the second academic observation condition which is:
Obtain a cumulative average of 2.0 or more, and allows him to register (12) credit hours in any semester and (6) credit hours in the summer semester.
A student is granted academic observation fourth sequentially provided that the note should be of benefit in improving his cumulative GPA to (2) and the student is dismissed in case of the futility record of the course to remove it from the observation.
The student has the right to withdraw from the college at any time in accordance with the procedures laid down, and the student must show the real reason behind the withdrawal.
In case of the student's doesn’t want to complete the advanced level diploma or bachelor's and satisfies the conditions of the transition from one level to another, and they are as follows:
So, the student must waive completing the level and join on job training.
Based on the regulation of technical colleges item number (68), the student may appeal against the result of the exam by submitting a request to the head of the department on the prescribed form for this purpose during the three days of the announcement of the result, and the examination committee has to review the papers within a week of filing the petition to verify the collection of the scores or correcting the uncorrected questions.
If the student was absent in the mid-term exam with a valid excuse accepted by the course head of section, this very section undergoes a make-up exam when he informs the head of the department within one week from the date of the exam which he missed, and he re-sits his exam before he exceeds the next semester of absence, nevertheless he is to be given zero.
Based on the regulation of technical colleges item number (70) If the student is absent from the final exam with an excuse accepted by the College Board, so this course considered as (incomplete) whenever he informs the dean of the college within one week from the date of the exam which he missed . In this case the student is allowed to sit for a supplementary exam no later than four weeks from the beginning of the next semester, and replaces the phrase (incomplete) with the degree obtained by the student in the supplementary exam, and nevertheless he is only be given zero.
Based on the regulation item number (67) the student is considered successful in the four educational levels if completed all the courses required for graduation and obtained a cumulative total rate of at least 2.0. The student will not be awarded graduation certificate unless he completes the on job training.
Article (56) of the Technical Colleges Regulations: the Dean of the College may be allowed to approve the student to postpone his studies for two semesters during the period of his college study for health reasons or family circumstances, and the College Board in may approve under some considered cases estimated by the consent of the student to postpone his studies to separate the third semester, and calculates the duration of the delay in the maximum to finish each level.
Article (68) of the Regulations Roster: the student may appeal against the result of the examination at a request submitted to the head of the department on the prescribed form for this purpose during the three days of the announcement of the result. The Examination committee has to review the papers within a week of filing the petition date to verify the collection of scores or correct the incorrect questions.
The student is eligible to apply for a transfer to any technical college in the light of the criteria laid down in this regard.
There are two types of transferring:
*For academic reasons that necessitate the student move to another college.
The student will be dismissed from the college according to the item number (72) of the Regulation in the following cases:
