Be’ah Engineered Landfill Station Visit Report

Project students of Engineering Department, Electrical Power specialization (Group 4) has visited Bahla solid waste transfer station and Be’ah Engineered Landfill station located near Izz on 20th June 2019. The visit was focused on data collection and identifying the application of information and communication technology in solid waste management practices in Nizwa City which is sponsored by Research Council of Oman under Faculty Mentored Undergraduate Research Award Program. The visit was started from Manah transfer station. Be’ah staff members welcomed the visitors and provided the information regarding various units of transfer station. Further the team is visited to Izz Engineered Land fill station, in which layers of solid waste are placed, compacted and covered for final disposal. Collection and treatment system, groundwater monitoring system and gas extraction equipment unit and its functions was explained by staff members of Be’ah. Students are benefited and enjoyed the technical details provided by Mr. Said Al Jadidi and Mr.Marwan Al Rumaidhi (Contract monitoring officers). On behalf of Engineering department, Many thanks to Ms. Rahma Alriyami (Sustainable Development Executive) and Mr. Talal Al Azri (Operation Manager) for the necessary arrangements. Dr. Sugumaran guided the industrial visit and students are expressed sincere thanks to Dr. Majdi Mohammed Bait Ali Sulaiman, Head of Engineering Department and Dr.BenSujin Head of Electrical Section for the support and guidance regarding the visit.
