A Workshop on using Microsoft Project 2010 was conducted by Dr. Antonio L. Mateo Jr. on April 22, 2015 for project coordinators , HoD (Dr. Saravanan) and HoS’s (Dr. Jabori and Mr. Fazal) of the Engineering Department. The activity was intended to familiarize and to train project supervisors and coordinators on using the MS Project software to apply it in actual equipment design, fabrication, and other technical undertakings involving co-workers, staff and students.
The workshop started with a logical framework approach or LFA (Objective-Output-Activity-Task), and combined it with the sequence scheme of work-breakdown structure (WBS) to inculcate the proper mindset of a good project planner. Salient features, toolbars, menus, and views of MS Project were briefly introduced to begin with the actual hands-on computer exercises. An interesting conceptualized project was used as a model trial-sample for the seminar exercises.
At the end of the session, our colleagues and participants in the workshop have learned that MS Project 2010 was indeed a great tool in project planning. However, it is important to remember that the real success of any project, big or small, will ultimately depend on people – those individuals who will sincerely and seriously work on the project, from start to finish!
