An Industrial visit to Oman Electricity Transmission Company S.O.A.G (OETC) was organized by Engineering Department & Business Center of NCT for the B.Tech students to enhance their practical knowledge towards various Electrical core subjects like Switchgear & Protection, Power Distribution, Power Station etc. on 10/02/2016 (Wednesday). A group of 24 students accompanied by a faculty member (Mr.Muthukumar Selvakkannu) visited the site (Near Nizwa new Hospital) between 9 am and 12.30 pm.

The students received a detailed explanations and made an efficient observation on the operation of various electrical equipment’s like Power Transformers, Bus-bar arrangements, Relays, Circuit Breakers, Feeder sections, Control panels, Surge arrestors, Lightning arrestors and Earthing arrangements by following all the Electrical safety procedures under the guidance of eminent site engineer Mr.Jalal.

The Regional Manager addressed the students and explained about the placement and the scope in OETC. After seeing the students overwhelming response and active participation, he gave us a special permission to visit the newly installed GIS based switchyard located near the Old Nizwa Hospital. That permission will be honored in future.
