Level 4 and IT students Dominate 2nd ELC Spelling Bee

Level 4 and IT students bagged the championship trophies and dominated the 2nd ELC Spelling Bee last May 11 and 12, 2016.
This year’s winners in the 2nd ELC Spelling Bee who are from Foundation level were Marwa Sulaiman Khalifa Al Wardi (3rd Runner-up), Ohood Sulaiman Nasser Sulaiman Al Riyami (2nd Runner-up), and the Championship Trophy went to Rawya Muslem Said Al Ghafri. The students were coached by Mr. Rajendar Yemula, ELC lecturer and Level 3 Coordinator.
On the other hand, Information Technology students won the majority of places for Post Foundation level. Winners were Asmaa Salim Hamood Al Siyabi (3rd Runner-up, Information Technology), Musallam Al Jadidi (2nd Runner-up, Engineering), Ibtisam Nasser Mohammad Al Sharaiqi (2nd Runner-up, Information Technology) and Afrah Zahran Dhaher Al Housni as the Champion (Information Technology). The participants from IT were coached by Ms. Sonia Soans and Mr. Chandilyan Uthamarajan for the Engineering participant.
Dr. Casimir Ignatius, Head of Section for Curriculum of the ELC, imparted in his Opening Remarks how correct spelling is important in communicating the right message. He said that more students should join to experience such a worthwhile competition and to improve their spelling proficiency.
The runners-up received gifts and certificates and the champions were awarded trophies, gifts and certificates from the ELC.
