Dr. Jehan Murugadhas, lecturer of Networking/E-Security Section, IT Department conducted a seminar on 26th April 2018 titled “Research Issues in Disaster Recovery and Risk Management”. The aim of this seminar was to share the research issues in the field of Disaster Recovery and Risk Management to the faculty members.
Natural or operational disasters can have serious negative effects for many businesses and data management. The speaker explained the impacts of various types of disaster hazards such as natural hazards, human-caused hazards, accidents and technological hazards in the data processing.
During his technical sharing, he added the contents of cloud computing to prevent IT system failure and communication failure. He included the consequences of the disaster in the IT management modules. The seminar focused and updated on recent developments in the disaster recovery methodologies and various team approaches such as computer recovery team, computer back up team, communication team and computer restoration team. It also covered to find out the IT- Disaster Recovery Plan (IT-DRP) research opportunities to recover data from loss and protect IT services.
The seminar concluded with the real time demonstration of IBM Computer Recovery Team Process.
