The Staff Development Unit of the Math Section of the IT Department marked the beginning of the new academic year with the first staff development activity on 5th September, 2018.
The section conducted a brainstorming session on the Issues faced in Basic Math. The session was organized by Ms. Sreemathi and Ms. Manitha Rijo. The session focused on the problems faced in the teaching of Basic Math and to bridge the gap between the teacher and the students in the said course. The session put insight to the following points.

*How to manage the freshers ;
*What are the difficulties faced by students in understanding the course;
*How to handle the slow learners in Basic Math and encourage them in learning;
*How to deliver the concepts to the students before moving on to the exercise; and
*How to train the students to do the exercise problems without calculators.
The session progressed with the views , ideas and suggestions from staff members. After the brainstorming session, it is decided to implement and follow up with the ideas and suggestions. The session was headed by the HoS , Dr. Khalifa Al Shaqsi .All Math staff attended the session.
