Engineering Department hosted Subject Matter Expert Talk on “Hydraulic and Pneumatics”

As part of creating enhanced teaching learning environment, M & I section - Department of Engineering - NCT, organized a Subject Matter Expert (SME) Talk on Hydraulic and Pneumatics, By Mr. Salim Khalfan Al Mayahi - representing a Petroleum development Oman, PDO Sultanate of Oman on 27.01.2020 in LR15 at 8.00 AM. The objective of inviting SME is to cover course outcome on par with industrial needs and present a technical delight for the students of mechanical engineering on the advances in the field of hydraulics and Pneumatics equipment in industries.

Topics Coverage by SME: Basic Laws of fluid power, components, operation and applications of different hydraulic and pneumatics valves and actuators. Simple Hydraulics circuits and maintenance. The speaker enlightened the students on: Basic laws of fluid power, and the use of various components in a hydraulic circuit. The advance hydraulic and pneumatic equipment’s being introduced in the market. While highlighting the importance of maintenance, he addressed to some of the queries of the students how one can become a good maintenance engineering.

This specific expert talk on applications of hydraulic and pneumatics systems and their maintenance enriched the knowledge of our students on modern technology from rich Industrial perspective covering the outcomes of the core subject Fluid Mechanics II being taught at advanced diploma level in mechanical engineering.

The session ended at 10.00 AM with queries on opportunities in the field of hydraulics and pneumatics and their maintenance prospects in various companies across the country. The concerned staff and the students registered for the course witnessed the entire session head of section M & I Mr. Fazal Ur Rahman, handed over the certificate of appreciation to the Mr. Salim Al Mayahi as token of appreciation. The event was coordinated by Alumni coordinator of engineering department Ms. Amira Al Asmi and Mr. Talal member of Alumni committee.
