Webinar on Building Multiple Regression Models for Research conducted by Math Section of IT Department

The Staff Development Unit of ITD-Math Section conducted the webinar on 18th June ,2020. Dr. Khalifa Al Shaqsi welcomed the participants and the speaker. The webinar was presented by Mr. Sunil Prakash on the topic Building Multiple Regression Models for Research. Mr. Sunil Prakash is specialized in statistics with sound knowledge of statistical package such as IBM SPSS, R Studio and Mplus. The webinar intended to explain the use of multiple regression modelling in various fields of research. Mr. Sunil Prakash introduced the topic with simple examples from the real life applications. Multiple regression modelling is a widely used statistical techniques in various fields such as Computer Science, Machine Language, Business, Economics, Social Sciences for building prediction models based on a dependent variable and one or more independent variables. In this session he focused on how to build simple and multiple linear regression models using the statistical package IBM, SPSS.Presenter also explained about the role of correlation coefficient and basic scatter plot and importance of checking the assumptions while building the regression model and how to report the output. The webinar was attended by staffs from all departments. The webinar was organized in association with the SDU ITD under the guidance of Dr. Duhai Al Shukaili HOD-ITD and Dr. Khalifa Al Shaqsi HOS-Math. Question-answer session was conducted at the end of the webinar for the queries raised by the participants. A lively interaction was created at the end, by the participants with their questions and the presenter clarified all the queries in a very simple and clear version. The webinar turned out to very useful and informative for all staff. The participants were motivated by the presenter in the usage of the Tool SPSS in Statistical Analysis as well as using it in research. The webinar was moderated by Ms. Manitha Rijo, Math Lecturer, SDU member Math Section.
