Webinar conducted by Industry Linkage Committee in coordination with Staff Development Unit IT Department

Under the guidance and supervision of Dr. Duhai Alshukaili HoD-IT Department, the Industry Linkage Committee-ITD in coordination with Staff Development Unit-ITD was proud to host a guest lecture by Dr. Nasser Alazwani in the form of a webinar to the staff and students of the Department on 6 th December 2020. The department thanks the Dean Dr. Ahmed Al Shahri, Chairman of SDU and Dr. Abdullah Al Azri, head of SDU for giving opportunities to staff and students for an overall growth. Dr. Nasser Said Al-Azwani, Ph.D., MSc, CCCM, ISMS LA, SANS, Nebosh, Head, Systems Security, and Administration Sultan Qaboos University Hospital, Oman is also an alumnus of Nizwa College of Technology and was equally happy to be a part of the event. The webinar began with a welcome note by Mrs. Sonia Soans the SDU representative, followed by introduction of the guest speaker by Mr. Sami K. Mustafa. Dr. Nasser spoke on “The Recent Trends in Cyber Attacks” which is a very relevant issue nowadays. He topic included Cyber Space, Growth in ICT Dependency (Smart Cities, IoT, AI, etc), Cyber Space as a New Domain of Threats, what to do in reducing Cyber Threats, uniqueness of Cyber Space and Cyber Attacks, Cyber Space Security Challenges, Case Study: Covid – 19 and Cyber Threats, Approaches of Securing Cyber Attacks & Strategies, Cyber Security and Students Responsibility. It was an amazing two hours of knowledge sharing with him. The vote of thanks was delivered by Ms. Rudina, student of network section. The session was highly interactive as number of questions from students flooded the chat box and Dr. Nasser patiently answered each and every one of them. It was truly a proud moment for the staff to see their ex-student Dr. Nasser in a successful position and enthusiastic to share his experiences with the present students. The session ended at 12pm even though the students still wanted to continue with the interaction.
