Engineering department conducted a webinar on “Flexibility in Additive Manufacturing” on 3rd March 2021 through MS Teams platform for faculties and students of Mechanical and Industrial Section. The resource person for the webinar was Mr. Sashidhar N.C, Director and CEO, AMS India Pvt. Ltd. The webinar was formally inaugurated with a welcome note and guest introduction by Dr. K.J. Sabareesaan, Head of Section, Mechanical and Industrial Section.
The resource person gave an insight about the advancement in Additive Manufacturing and operations at Advanced Mechanical Services(AMS) such as design and the simulation activities. Different machines which can carry out addition as well as subtraction of materials, six axis machines and machines which can manufacture PCB’s were discussed.
AMS-Hyrel ,Hybrid machines was the next topic of discussion. In that Hybrid machines different attachments which can have extruders and milling cutters for subtraction was discussed. The speaker then emphasized the importance of cold flow printers which is the latest research area in AMS and discussed about Repetrel software with which they can carry out IOT inspection, manufacture Powder feeds and ceramic molds.
Finally, the speaker gave a detailed information about the advancements of Additive Manufacturing in Biological research. The webinar was an eye opener to understand about Additive manufacturing and its importance in manufacturing and research areas.
