Towards Vision 2040 – Building Business Research Ecosystem for Industry & Academia

The Business Studies Department of UTAS-Nizwa has conducted a one-day webinar entitled “Towards Vision 2040 – Building Business Research Ecosystem for Industry & Academia” for the benefit of all stakeholders of Universities of Technology and Applied Sciences across Oman last 19th May 2021. This online webinar was well-attended by 232 faculty members and senior project students. The major theme of the webinar is to identify the key areas for business research towards Oman Vision 2040 and to develop a stronger relationship between industry and academia with the end in view of conducting collaborative researches across different industries.

The program was opened and moderated by Dr. Abdullah Al Azri, ADAFA, UTAS-Nizwa. In his welcome address, he briefed the participants about objectives and protocols of the webinar. He was also tasked of welcoming the distinguished guests and participants to the event, including the Vice Chancellor of UTAS, H.E. Dr. Said Al Rubaei, the discussants and guest speakers, as well as the management team of UTAS-Nizwa, headed by its dean, Dr. Ahmed Al Shahri, Ms. Nahid Al Shukaili HoD of Business Studies Department and all other participants.

It was no less than H.E. Dr. Said Al Rubaei, who inaugurated the webinar. He urged all stakeholders of UTAS to build a rigorous and result oriented research ecosystem for the benefit of the nation. His message was followed by the key note address by Dr. Jamilla Al Hinaia, Project Director, Ministry of Higher Education, Research and Innovation.

The webinar talks were delivered by outstanding personalities from different sectors of the society, beginning with Dr. Tahir Al Kindi, Chairman of RAY International LLC who presented about the impact of technology’s innovation in the manufacturing sector of Oman.
Dr. Tahir’s talk was followed by Dr. Abdullah Al Shukaili, Assistant Professor from Nizwa University. He spoke about the role of business academic research in achieving Vision 2040.


Then after, Dr. Sausan Al Riyamia, a Senior Expert at the research at Ministry of Higher Education, Research and Innovation in Oman delivered a speech on the contribution of EJAAD towards knowledge- based economy and highlighted the key services of EJAAD to develop a rich research ecosystem in Oman.

The three-hour productive webinar was culminated by the Vote of Thanks from the UTAS-NIzwa Dean where thanked H.E Dr.Said Al-Rubai , all the guest speakers, staff members of Research and Consultancy Committee and Educational Technology Centre, Head of Business Studies Department and all the participants.
