The accounting profession is an ever-evolving one. As businesses become globalized and complex, so too are accounting principles, treatments, policies and methods. And, as an institution that teaches accounting, it becomes very apparent that the BSD- Accounting Section need to continuously update and upgrade what faculty members teach to their students, ensuring them that they will be wellversed in their field once they enter the workforce. Thus, in the commemoration of the 2021 International Accounting Day two guest speakers were invited by the Accounting Section to give their insights about the theme “The Accounting Professionals of the 21st Century”. Through the support and assistance of Dr. Lenin Kumar, Accounting HoS and Ms. Nahid AL Shukaili, HoD, the organizers of the event were able to invite, Ms. Janice Delos Reyes, senior management information analyst from Shell Corporation, Netherlands. In her talk, she shared her professional experiences as a Certified Public Accountant based on the topic “Career Opportunities for Accounting Graduates. The second speaker, Mr. Mohamed Farzan of the College of Banking and Finance in Oman, also a Chartered Accountant discussed about the “ACCA Qualifications for Accounting Graduates”. The webinar was attended by more than 100 student and teacher participants from UTAS-Nizwa and other colleges. The Head of Department, Madam Nahid Al Shukaili also graced the occasion and welcomed the guests and participants while Dr. Lenin Kumar Nooney, gave the word of thanks and closed the program. The webinar started at 10AM and ended at 11:30AM.
