Career Growth Committee (CGC) of the Department of Engineering, University of Technology and Applied Sciences – Nizwa, organized a graduate career-oriented programme on 06-04-22 at Adam Hall in association with Schlumberger, an International Global Energy Industry that has branches in more than 30 countries across the globe. The Dean, UTAS-Nizwa - Mr.Hafedh Said Al Rahbi inaugurated the event. Dr.Bensujin – Acting HoD and HoS-EE Section, CGC Committee Coordinator - Ms.Aaisha, CGC team members welcomed the following representatives from Schlumberger - Mr.Ahmed Akhtam, Mr. Talal Al Rawahi, Mr.Khalifa Al Zaabi and Mr.Waheed Bulushi.

The event commenced with a presentation by Mr.Ahmed Akhtam, Talent Acquisition Manager. He encouraged the students with his motivational speech and very candidly explained the common errors young graduates often make in job selection, CV writing and interview presentations. His advice and suggestions were complemented by Mr.Talal, HR , who placed great emphasis on interpersonal skill development. The mock interview sessions gave the students an opportunity to understand the industry expectations from graduates. The event concluded with a closing ceremony at 1:45 PM during which time the speakers gave their feedback about the student performance and mentioned that they were very impressed with the performance of some students and that they would consider such performers for recruitments in future.

The speakers were then honored with a memento by the Dean – UTAS, Nizwa, for their time and contribution to the career development of our young graduates. At the close of the event, Dr. Bensujin expressed his gratitude to the Dean, the Schlumberger team, and appreciations to the Career Growth Committee. The event concluded at 2 PM. The event received a very positive response from the students.
