Engineering Department Meeting, Tuesday 17-05-2022

The department of Engineering convened their first department meeting for Semester 3 of the academic year 21-22 on 17-05-22, Tuesday during the Common Meeting Time starting at 12 noon. All teaching and technical staff from the Electrical & Electronics Section, Mechanical & Industrial Section attended the meeting. Dr. Bensujin B, Acting HoD-Engineering and HoS – EE, welcomed the gathering and congratulated all the staff for their exemplary performance during the previous semester. He appreciated the increase in student count that cleared probation and the faculty and student achievements in intra-college and external academic events. Dr.Bensujin then welcomed the new staff who joined the department in this semester and invited them to introduce themselves.
This was followed by a recap of semester 2 experiences and Dr.Sujin highlighted the main events and achievements of semester 2. He later proceeded to remind staff of their job descriptions, student – faculty relationships and responsibilities along with maintaining quality and accuracy during evaluation and grading. He encouraged staff adherence to a high level of professionalism in their interaction with peers and students. He reminded faculty to communicate with students via email and record all cases of student issues. Dr. Bensujin proceeded to enlighten staff on the progress of the curriculum review team and the efforts being taken across all branches of UTAS to form an updated and complete curriculum that is on par with latest technology and industry standards.
He also mentioned that information is yet to be received on the details of incorporating the new revised curriculum and 2-semester pattern. He advised all staff members to refrain from making personal or academic plans based on hearsay. He encouraged staff members to follow the registration and academic calendar that is communicated by the Institute. Faculty members were reminded to complete the EJADA system uploads and Dr. Sujin reiterated that EJADA was the responsibility of individual staff members.
The meeting concluded at 12:45 PM with an open invitation for lunch.
