BSD- HR Section holds HR Day Competition

The Human Resource Section of the Business Studies Department organized the HR Day Competition on Monday, May 23, 2022, in celebration of the International HR Day. The competitions included The Best Manager, Block and Tackle, Digital Poster making competition
and Go for Gold – a Treasure Hunting Competition. Around 60 students participated in these events.
Nine students who from HR Diploma, Advanced Diploma and Btech participated in the Best Manager Competition, where the contestants were subjected to rigorous tests to determine the winner. Invited lecturers from the Marketing, HR and Accounting sections served as jurors for these tests- which included an aptitude test, case analysis and an on-the spot interview. In the end, Ms. Hakema Al Darai, a student from HR Advanced Diploma was heralded as the winner.
A modified debate competition, Block and Tackle, exhibited the talents of seven students to critically assess and make their stand on an issue that was raised by the judges of the competition. During the competition, Ms. Turkiya Al Busaidi – Marketing Section-HoS, and Mr Radha Subramanian, Marketing Section Lecturer, judged the students’ critical thinking and presentation skills to which they have decided to award Ms, Shuhud Al Wardi, a student from B.Tech – HR as the indisputable winner of the event.
As the day progressed, a Digital poster making competition was held. 12 teams competed to make the best digital poster for the theme Transforming HR in the Digital era. The panel of judges was comprised of Khalifa Al Riyami – ELC Lecturer, Edson Talla – ETC Graphic Designer and Yumna Al Rashdi of the HR Department. The first prize was won by the duo Amna Al Harassi and Amira Al Adawi, while the second prize was won by the team of Asma Said Al-Shruoqi and Al-Zahraa Al-Harrasi.

As the other events were ongoing, 11 teams competed in the Go for Gold - Treasure Hunt competition. The event challenged the students to accomplish four stages of missions for them to find the treasure. The treasure was discovered by a boys’ team comprising of four students.
After the competitions concluded, the participants were invited to the Adam Hall for the awarding ceremony. No less than the UTAS- Nizwa Sean, Dr.Hafedh Said Al Rahbi – and Dr. Hafidh Ambusaidi- Asst. Dean for student Affairs and Ms Nahid Al Shukhaili, HoD- Business studies Department, led the awarding ceremony. Ms. Turkiya Al Busaidi – HoS Marketing and Mr. Muruga Prakash, HoS – Accounting also attended the occasion in support of the event.

The event was concluded by Ms Hajar Al Nabhani – HoS HR Section as she expressed her gratitude to the university management team, participants, organizers and the audience.
