The Convergence of IoT & Machine Learning: Transforming Data into Action

Information Technology Department had always believed in sharing knowledge on different platforms nationally and internationally. Under the dynamic leadership of Dr. Duhai Al Shukaili, Head of IT Department, the department has continuously extended the technical support and research motivational activities to the society through different seminars, workshops, webinars, and training sessions. Also, active supports by Ms. Suad Abdullah Al-Riyami, HOS- Networking/Internet and E-Security Section to conduct these activities for the teaching and learning community. These activities highly promote the motivation and staff engagement in national and international participation.
Dr. Jehan Murugadhas, Networking/Internet and E-Security Section, Information Technology Department, had been recently invited to present an International webinar at the PSG College of Arts and Science, Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu, India on topic titled- “ The Convergence of IoT & Machine Learning : Transforming Data into Action”. Dr. Jehan Murugadhas, explained the technical concepts of Machine Learning and real time applications with demonstration. Also, he explained the role of IoT in the real world with various applications such as IoT based health care system, smart street light system and smart home appliances management system. In addition that, he explained different machine learning algorithms and research issues with examples.
Dr. Jehan demonstrated Object movement alert sound system and Traffic Light Controlling System by using Tinkercad. Also, he utilized PIR Sensor, Piezo, LEDs and Potentiometer in Tinkercad to develop the prototypes of real time applications.
In addition that, he demonstrated working procedures of Industrial IoT automation system in the point of Smart Industrial Applications using Carbon Monoxide sensor, Water sprinkler and automatic door controlling system using Cisco Packet Tracer tool. Also, he highlighted the methods of circuit board design using Tinkercad.
The webinar was attended by 40 faculty members and research scholars from varied departments from the PSG College of Arts and Science, India.
