BSD bolsters student entrepreneurship motivation through a 3-day Enterprise Exhibit

To make the students experience entrepreneurship in real life, the BSD Entrepreneurship lecturers and students organized an Entrepreneurship Exhibition from 11th December to 13th December 2022 in UTAS- Nizwa. This event is conducted for the 9th time in the UTAS campus.
Aside from awakening the entrepreneurial tendencies of the students, the activity also aimed to encourage the students to come up with their creative ideas and develop team building, leadership, communication, negotiation, marketing, financeand management skills.
Prominent personalities from the University and the private sector joined together during the event’s inauguration led by Mr.Saif Nasser Ai Tiwani, the Chairman of Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Al Dhakliya in the presence of Dr. Hafedh Said Al Rahbi, UTAS-Nizwa,Ibrahim Nasser Al Siyabi, Assistant Dean for Academic Affairs, Dr. Salim Al Rashdi,Assistant Dean for Administration and Finance Affairs, the BS Head of Department, Ms. Hajar Al Nabhani and the Entrepreneurship course team. Some of the lecturers of the BSD were also present during the program to express their support to the exhibitors and organizers.
The exhibit challenged the students through a Poster Competition and actual sales skills demonstration where the entrepreneurship students presented their innovative product ideas. A total of 14 groups participated in this competition and presented posters. These posters were evaluated on criteria such as Novelty of the idea, Technical feasibility, Marketing feasibility, Usefulness of the idea to the society, and their business communication skills. Mr. Sulaiman Al Sulaimani, CEO, Al Bustan Traditional Inn, Nizwa and Mr. Abdullah Al Busaidi, CEO, International Energy and Investment, Nizwa judged the competition
In the Sales Skills Competition, around 99 groups of students participated to sell a variety of products. These groups were evaluated by the concerned tutors on criteria such as Pricing, Promotion, Display, Packaging and Communication.
The entire event witnessed very high levels of energy and enthusiasm from the students as well as the entire teaching and non-teaching staff.
In the end, the judges were thanked for spending their valuable time and sharing their valuable suggestions and feedback. The event concluded at 2.00 pm on 13th December, 2022.
