CEBA-Nizwa Initiates Tally Prime Training Program to its Faculty

From 31st of January 2023 to Feb. 2, 2023, the College of Economics And Business Administration, through the efforts of the BSD Staff Development Unit (SDU), conducted the Tally Prime Training Program for the faculty members of UTAS-Nizwa College of Technology and College of Applied Sciences. The program was conducted in the BSD Building, UTAS Nizwa and was conducted by Dr. Mohamed Rafiq, one of the core faculty members of the CEBA Accounting Section.
The program was initiated in response to the call of the CEBA-College of Technology, Head of Department (HoD), Ms. Hajar Al Nabhani and the Accounting Section HoS, Mr. Muruga Prakash to conduct programs that will further enhance the knowledge and skills base of its faculty members, a feat that will ultimately be beneficial to its students.
Ms. Turkiya Al Busaidi, the HoS of Marketing and concurrently the head of the University SDU, opened the program to welcome the 12 participants of the 3-day training, which included two faculty members from the UTAS College of Applied Sciences- Nizwa.
Tally PRIME is an integrated business management software. It is used to manage Accounting, Inventory, Statutory and compliance, Banking, Payroll and various other accounting and finance applications. Knowledge and application of these skills will greatly contribute to the employability of the department’s accounting specialization students.
In the three- day session, these topics were discussed.
First session (31st January 2023)
Brief introduction of Tally Prime, Need for computerized accounting systems, outcomes coverage of Principles of Accounting 1 and 2 based on the newly implemented audit degree version 5. Covered topics by using Tally Prime software.
1. Creation of Company
2. Groups and Ledger creation
3. Entering opening balance in the Ledger under appropriate groups
4. Report generation such as Trial Balance summary, P&L account and Balance sheet
Second session (1st February 2023)
1. Entering transactions into voucher entries
2. Report Generation such as Day book summary and outstanding summary
Third Session (2nd February 2023)
1. Inventory info such as creation of stock groups, categories, stock items etc.
2. Adding Inventory transactions in the Voucher entries
3. Report generation such as Stock summary, P& L account and Balance sheet
The Vote of Thanks was extended by Dr. Edwin Premkumar. The program was formally closed by Ms. Hajar Al Nabhani.
Similar workshops like this are regularly conducted by the department through the leadership of its dean Dr. Hafedh Al Rahbi and the Assistant Dean for Academic Affairs, Dr. Ibrahim Nasser Al Siyabi.
